Girl Scout Healthy Snack & Simple Meals Workshops
Girl Scouts has partnered with the Local Matters' Food Matters & Growing Matters programs to offer workshops related to healthy meal preparation, local foods, nutrition, and gardening. The cost for these workshops is $8 per person.
Garden Planning, Grades 6-8
Cadettes will learn about the essential elements to a successful food production garden - soil, sunlight, water, planting techniques, pollination, education, and planning! They'll have a chance to design their own dream gardens and help to design the new garden at Camp Ken-Jockety.
Ohio Grown, Grades 9-10
Seniors will learn that food can be grown in rural OR urban areas. They will ask "why local matters" and discuss the benefits of local foods. They'll even get a chance to taste local foods of the season and create a recipe that features a seasonal ingredient - a perfect tie in to the Locavore Badge!
