Saturday, August 11

North Market Farmers Festival at North Market (8am–4pm)                                        

Come for a day of farm-tastic fun such as a homemade jam and jelly contest, a Chef Challenge and kids' activities. Local Matters will be selling sweet corn for a buck and launching the Eat Local Challenge! Learn more here.

Hills Market Farmers Market & Foodie Spelling Bee at Hills Market (10am–5pm)

As the official kickoff to Local Foods Week, The Hills Market will host their annual farmers' market and Foodie Spelling Bee, while Local Matters will present our annual Kids Cook-off Challenge and the Grilled Cheese Throwdown. Learn more here

Local Tour & Dishin’ It Tasting at Whole Foods Market Dublin (12-1:30pm)

WFM local weekWhole Foods Market's Local Products Purveyor will take you on a tour of the store to taste some of his favorite Ohio-grown products and learn about what it means to be local at Whole Foods Market. Registration is $10 (maximum 25 people). Learn more here.

Shagbark Farm Tasting at The Greener Grocer (10am-2pm)

The folks from Shagbark Farm will be present at The Greener Grocer to share their story about changing staple foods in the region, along with their delicious chips and crackers for sampling.

Sunday, August 12

Local Foods Family Day at COSI presented by Chipotle (12-4pm) at COSI

Chipotle presents the first annual Local Foods Family Day, where kids and adults will have the opportunity to sample Ohio produce, plant your own tomato, stir up some salsa and more! Learn more here

Clintonville Farmers' Market Pot Luck (6pm) at Swainway Urban Farm

This family-friendly event is planned for Friends of the Clintonville Farmers' Market, their friends, our friends, and anyone who wants to come! Learn more here.

Ohio Cookout at the Farm with Two Caterers (5–8pm) at Hoover-Y Learning Garden

Join Local Matters and YMCA of Central Ohio at our collaborative growing venture the Hoover-Y Learning Garden for a cookout dinner. Veggie Van Benefit Dinner (6-9pm) at Alana's Food & Wine

Pick up a map at the Farmers' Market Information Table to take a self-guided tour of the production gardens with informative stations along the way. 

“Wholly Local: Cooking at Peak Harvest Season” Cooking Class (6:30-8pm) at North Market

Slow Money Food and Farm Entrepreneur Showcase at Till Dynamic Fare Restaurant (6pm)

Presented by Slow Money Ohio and Local Matters, this event is a great opportunity to learn about real strategies and models for a local food economy. Learn more here.
