Local Foods Week

Our first-ever Local Foods Week was a great success, thanks to our many partners! We reached over 25,000 plus people during this week and connected them with the work of Local Matters and the bounty of Central Ohio's local foodshed.

We are especially grateful to our event partners:

  • Mary Martineau at the North Market
  • Jill Moorhead and the staff of the Hills Market
  • Kevin Mulhame at 3rd and Hollywood
  • Chef Alana Shock, husband Kevin and her crew at Alana's Food and Wine
  • Jeni Britton of Jeni’s Ice Cream
  • Tom Smith at the Worthington Inn
  • Elizabeth Lessner and Carmen Owens on behalf of Betty's, Tip Top, Surley Girl Saloon and Dirty Franks
  • The Elevator Brewery and Draught House
  • The Columbus Brewing Company
  • House Wine in Worthington
  • Angel Gravitt  at Whole Foods in Dublin

We are also grateful to our “Sprout Sales” partners:

  • The Greener Grocer
  • Jeni’s Ice Cream (all shops)
  • The Hills Market
  • Cup 'O Joe (all locations)
  • Crimson Cup

A special thanks to WCBE for promoting the week on air and for their dedication to building and supporting our local community each day!

We also want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the Local Foods Week Steering Committee for their commitment to planning and executing the week: Jeni Britton of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Christian Deuber, Coexist Creative (the designer of our "Localicious" logo), Kimberly Allison, Donnie Austin, House Wine in Worthington, Randy Dupler, Dupler Office, Chuck Palmer, Consumer X, and Angela Stoll-Petro, Two Caterers. We would also like to recognize Sharon Perez, our Development Chair whose guidance and leadership were constantly on display.

Big hugs to our board members and staff of Local Matters as well as our crew of volunteers!

Please take a bow and accept this heartfelt “thank you” to each of you.

Finally, to our community: if you had a great time and enjoyed our events, please consider supporting the cause by becoming one of the 1000 Friends of Local Matters

Join us again in October 2010 for the second annual Local Matters Local Foods Week!

food & wines

When pairing food and wine,

When pairing food and wine, the goal is synergy and balance. The wine shouldn't overpower the food, nor should the food overpower the wine.
