Dr. Mary Ann Abrams

Mary Ann Abrams, MD, MPH, is a pediatrician in Primary Care Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Clinical Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She oversees trainee engagement in quality improvement, and works in medical education, health equity, and health literacy.

Her clinical interactions with children and families struggling with poverty, food insecurity, and related health issues, and passion for the interface between clinical medicine and population/public health motivate her to address the critical social determinants of health, including access to healthy, nutrient- rich foods, and policies to promote this. Joining the Local Matters Board will enable her to participate in supporting our community to address these vital challenges through partnerships, policy, and advocacy.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Abrams graduated from the University of Dayton, The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and Harvard School of Public Health. She and her husband Mike have two children, Elizabeth and Thomas.
