Kylie Miller

Kylie grew up in Madison, Ohio, and moved to Columbus in 2020 to get a B.S. in Environment, Economy, Development, and Sustainability at OSU. She was not always passionate about food; growing up with a young, busy single mom, cooking had never been a priority in her family. In college, she confronted her lack of knowledge around cooking and began her cooking journey, quickly discovering the importance of food on one’s well-being and the joy that cooking can bring. She became passionate about making nourishing foods more accessible and about the impact cooking education can have on one’s life, not only on one's health but also by relieving stress, creating bonds, and building confidence and self-sufficiency. Kylie volunteered with and became president of Students Advocating for Food Equity, volunteering at community gardens around Columbus, and later worked as an urban farmer as an AmeriCorps VISTA at UALC Community Garden and Franklinton Farms. She is thrilled to be continuing her work at Local Matters, further expanding food access in Columbus. In her free time, Kylie also enjoys crocheting, sewing, cycling, and climbing.
