Sam Arthurs
Head Gardener
Sam has six years of horticulture experience and over two years of freelance writing and editing experience as well. Her interests are in sustainable growing practices, small-scale agriculture, urban garden design, and science communication. Luckily, her position at Local Matters allows her to incorporate all of these interests as she plans, installs, and cares for community gardens around Columbus. She believes that everyone should have access to green spaces and the knowledge to grow their own food, even on a micro-scale.
She has a BA in Linguistics and an AAS in Environmental Science, and she spent a year studying abroad in South Korea. Outside of work, Sam writes horror stories, watches enough anime to motivate herself at the gym, and caters to her two chihuahuas, Maximus and Pippin.
